Having a Totally Self-absorbed Narcissistic Mother Can be a Good Thing
I can’t believe I just wrote that.
Six things we can do better.
hi pumpkin,
today WILL be a much better day than friday was…you are so smart, strong, capable and you know how to trust yourself and to listen to what your gut tells you.
i am SO very, very proud of you.
i love you so much, it’s hard to put into words.
xoxo,
mom
Tears came to my eyes while typing this note to my daughter. My entire life would have taken a different trajectory if I had heard words of affirmation from my mother even once when I was growing up. Just once would have made a difference in my life.
My mother’s supremely stunning indifference towards me — which I was very aware of by age of 16 — made me vow to be a different type of mom when my chance came around — and I am.
We can do better for our children than was done for us as children.
It requires being aware.
- First it requires that we’re aware that how we were raised was not healthy.
- Being aware of the unhealthy aspects of our upbringing.
